My Phenom II 965 operates my RAM at 1600 which is the max of the SPD for DDR3. Not a problem as my CPU seems to be working fine.

My ram however has the XMP tables which Intel added to DDR3 to get around the speed issue.

So can the FX-8350 use the XMP speeds and if so, how fast can it go?

I have my Ram running easily at 1866 with NO OC on the FSB (9.33 Multi on the RAM clocks).  SPD of my RAM is 666 MHz (DDR3-1333) and the IMC's max "Supported" clocks are DDR3-1866).  Here is some pics:

As you can see my RAM actually has two sets of XMP profiles (DDR3-2000 and DDR3-1714)

My older CPU doe not 'see' the XMP profiles, but CPU-Z does read the tables and indicated my RAM is overkill for my CPU this week.

But I am considering X8 processors from the FX line with an eye at staying ahead of game consoles.

I am hoping my 2 sticks of DDR3-2133 will be useful for a few years.

AMD does not "See" the XMP profiles and never has...  but you can manually add the timings and voltages.

As for how fast your RAM can go...  without a FSB OC the max is 1866...  anything above needs an increase in the base clock of 200.
