Good day, I have a problem with my Athlon 64 X2 7850 black edition processor. This unit is supposed to run at 2800Mhz each core but my runs only at 1400Mhz/core. I found this in an utility called CPUID. It also says that multiplier is set to x7 so i went to BIOS and tried changing multiplier to x14 but it had no effect and this utility still says that it is set to x7. My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-M720-US3 rev.1.1 and I have installed newest bios v.F7N. I am out of ideas... Any suggestions what is wrong?

Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for your advice it looks like it worked but now i have another problem. My cpu is extremely overheating now it runs 2800Mhz I cleared everything inside from dust and other garbage that got stuck in it over time and my CPUs temperature is over 70°C. I am using Boxed cooler. Any ideas how to lower temperature other than buying new cooler?

Thanks for your reply :-)

Are you reading the temps correctly as mentioned in the sticky "how to read your CPU temps"?

I am afraid that I do. OCCT shows temperature around 73°C when I am not running anything and when I run a game(World of Warcraft) temperature rises to 96+ and few seconds after that pc shuts down to prevent damage from overheating.

Is the heatsink free of dust and seated properly with the proper amount of thermal interface material?
