I got an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ /Socket AM2/ with a broken pin. From what I knew on the internet is perhaps the pin AJ1 /THERMDA/. Arrow points it in the picture at the link.

I do not know if the computer even start when you insert the processor. I do not know how to check. I do not have any mainboard with AM2 socket. Any suggestions on this topic are welcome.

If AMD's whitepaper says it is a pin which carries thermal information, then there is a good chance that it would work, but there's no guarantee.

I suggest a CPU tray might be an idea. This way old processors can be protected until needed.
