Hello All......Quick question......I recently upgraded my motherboard/CPU combo from ASRock A55M-HVS/AMD APU A8-3850 CPU to ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0/AMD FX 6300 CPU. I put aside my ASRock/3850 APU for a "rainy day", in the event I need a spare mobo/CPU unit if I have any problems with my upgraded unit. How long can I keep the CPU/APU installed onto the mobo?.......Is there maybe a certain time period (6 months, a year, 2 years, etc)when I should reinstall the APU with thermal paste? You can leave the CPU in the socket forever, but you need to clean off the old thermal interface material and reapply it every time you remove the heatink.
