Hello

I bought a FX-9370, and i have been having some issues with random FPS drops in high intensity games.

I have the

GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P

and the 9370 isnt a supported processor, so i wanted to know if the issue could stand here?

I cant return the processor so im screwed

Why would you buy a CPU thats not supported on your motherboard? So if you can't return the CPU then buy a new motherboard.

Yes the problem could very well be the mobo VRM circuit overheating and throttling the CPU voltage and frequency. This is why you should not use CPUs on mobos that do not officially support them. There are only a handful of mobos that have the proper VRM mobo circuit design to provide the 220W TDP power required for a FX-9000 series CPU.

Building a reliable PC involves more than just assembling the parts. You need to be able to configure all of the BIOS settings appropriately. This can be quite involved and frustrating as it can require a lot of trial and error with stress testing. It is however often the only means to get a 100% reliable PC.
