I'm kind of lost here on this CPU...

I have a Phenom X4 9750 that was manufactured in 2006, but weren't these made in 2008? Also, the stepping code doesn't match the CPU code.

Here is what is printed on the CPU:

AMD Phenom

HD9750XAJ4BGH

JAAPB  AA  0923MPMW

9294404I90674

(c) 2006  AMD

What exactly is this thing and why does nothing match up with anything when I look it up on the web? Any help and/or links to info would be awesome. Thanks!

Sounds like someone in the packaging room didn't update the packaging.

If you search the AMD white papers or perhaps do an online search there is official AMD info. on how to read the model and production info. printed on the CPU. Whatever is on the CPU is what it actually is. Some OEM processors were never sold in retail.

Building a reliable PC involves more than just assembling the parts. You need to be able to configure all of the BIOS settings appropriately. This can be quite involved and frustrating as it can require a lot of trial and error with stress testing. It is however often the only means to get a 100% reliable PC.
