I have an FX6300 that was working fine from my Asrock 970Extreme3 R2.0. I built my son a pc with an Asrock980DE3 using that processor and worked only with a single channel since then. I've ask Asrock support and they told me it must the IMC. First I disagreed but tried my FX6350 and dual channel worked for the 980DE3. Don't know why but the FX6300 never had the dual channle mode back. Today I just moved my pair of  Kingston Fury 1886 DDR3 from slot A1/B1 to A2/B2 and the 970Extreme3 didn't boot correctly at the start of the windows 7 boot screen. Windows7 run the repair but didn't find any solution. So I turned off the pc, moved back the memory stick back to A1/B1 > entered the bios, now bios reports as single channel. As reference to my tinkering on my pc can be found here on this overclocker site. http://www.overclock.net/t/1421270/using-bus-speed-matching-ddr3-speed-on-fx6300-and-on-fx6350#post_20673154. I never damaged a proessor in my life starting from AMDK6, Athlon, Sempron, Phenom 960T, FX6100. Also any settings I apply on bios for the cpu bus and memory setting no longer sets.  It is like a locked processor and to adjust it needs to the Asrock Xtreme tuner or the AMD overdrive.

I'm sad and need help on this one

Gave it another try. Moved A2/B2 > reset bios> remove battery for 5mins> reset bios. Back to dual channel. See if this work on the 980DE3

Update: no luck with FX6300 on 980DE3
