I have an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 motherboard which uses the AMD SB950 chipset to create a fakeRAID array (setup for RAID 5 in my case). It is recognized as a RAID array in Windows after install of the appropriate driver. It is not recognized as such by Linux and indeed I am afraid that it may be accidentally corrupted since some installs (Linux Mint 14) seem to try to mount them as individual drives. A separate install of Scientific Linux 6.3 (RHEL 6.3 clone) recognizes the drives as part of a RAID array and at least does not try to mount them, which at least protects them, though that also removes them from use.
I may wish to access the RAID array and use it within Linux. Will create a separate partition for Linux on it if I can figure out the Linux support for this chipset.
Any suggestions or ideas?
