Well I hope it is soon. AMD is not looking good in choices for a Micro-ATX Lan Box System right now. They are very limited in what I can do. Unless you go with an APU. It is like they are focusing to much on APU now. But from what I have heard the APU's are not really good enough for pushing higher end games. I am not sure how true that is, but it is what I have read so far on it. That is why I was looking for a regular Micro-ATX mobo. I was thinking that I could drop my older spare Phenom II 1100T and decent GPU into my old Lanbox Case for a grab and go gaming system. I travel a bit and lugging around my Main Gaming PC is a bit of work. It was a ton and has an external LC case for the LC System that cools my GPU's and CPU. I put six casters under the thing just to move it around easier. So you see a Lanbox would be good for me when I travel.
What gets me now is that looking at the mobo's I can choose from right now; I can hardly find any of the 880/850 mobo's in stock at many online stores that I am able to choose from. At least none of the ones with the features I am looking for. This is from the common stores to the not so common stores that I would normally not buy from. Even stores out of country. Most of the mobos I am finding are 760 chipsets. It is like everyone stopped making the latest models and we are left with all the older mobos.
I have found a few used ones on ebay, like one or two. But I am not keen on buying a used mobo. There are just some things that I will not buy used and that is one of them. It has to be pretty cheap for me to buy it used and these guys are asking almost and even full price, so it is a no go for me when it comes to those ones.
I am almost ready to give up on trying to use my old spare Phenom II 1100T Processor. I really did not want to buy a new CPU when I had one just sitting there. Sadly though it is looking like I may have to. I might have to start looking at Intel to see what there choices are.
Question for anyone.
What do you think on the APU's for gaming? Will they work good for the higher end games?
Also what sort of setup would you go with for a gaming Lanbox?
