I've had various problems since upgrading to Windows 8.1 which I have put down to shoddy default AHCI drivers, but I can't find drivers for Windows 8.1 anywhere, the latest AHCI driver that is installed is 1.3.1.156 from 23/07/2013 (quite a while).

Does anyone know where to find the latest, up to date drivers? (raw files or installer would be appreciated)

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 8 - 32

C:\AMD\Support\13-12_win7_win8_32-64_raid\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\SB8xx\RAID\W864A

"DriverVer=03/11/2013, 3.8.1540.11"

That is where it should be located...  for some reason the installer does not even recognise the SB950 in Windows 8.1...  I manyually added mine during the Windows 8.1 installation, and these are the ones I used.

The AHCI drivers (and LAN, Audio, chipset, SATA, USB) should be readily available from your motherboard manufacturer's website (i.e. ASUS, Gigabyte, MSi, etc).

Thanks for the reply QB, I tried the download package and had a nose around but I couldn't find anything of use as far as compatibility was concerned but I went and downloaded the latest Catalyst 14.3 Beta V1.0 drivers and tried the same thing within this folder:

C:\AMD\AMD_Catalyst_14.3_Beta_V1.0_Windows_B22_March12\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\hseries\AHCI\WB64A

WB64A meaning Windows Blue (Windows 8.1), the Readme inside the folder said it included support for the SB9xx family so I went and installed and now things seem to be running smoothly again.

Running on Drivers 1.3.1.166 which are significantly newer than the Defaults that Windows provides though given they're nearly 5 months old I expect there to be a new set of drivers in the next official catalyst build.

I wouldn't trust gigabyte as much as an armless chimp to keep drivers, BIOS or utility software on their website up to date. The latest BIOS for my board on their site has been listed as Beta for over a year now.

You said you had a SB950...  that is not the hseries...  it's the SB850 folder.  the 950 is the same as the 850.

Well...you haven't given us any information regarding about your motherboard (make and model), CPU, etc.

Keep in mind, AM3+ / 900 series chipset, have been out for a few years now, so the drivers have matured to a quite stable level.

For an example, my ASUS Crosshair V 990FX motherboard hasn't had a new BIOS, USB / LAN / chipset / Audio / SATA driver since late 2012.

Heck, even the revised Crosshair V Formula-Z hasn't got any new drivers since 2013. There is a newer BIOS, but it just improves system stability.

Well there's nothing in the SB8xx folder that works on my setup for my OS, the problems are non existant now and everything has been running fine for nearly a week so I guess something worked. I can only assume they're the correct drivers for my board and that the guys at AMD have muddled up the drivers in this beta package.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 (Rev. 1.0)
