Alright, I own a Lenovo z575 laptop, it has an AMD-3420m APU with a AMD 6520G gpu inside of it, it also has a radeon 6650m 1gb dedicated card.

Here is what is going on, the latest drivers from lenovo for my laptop are from december and suffer from some performance issues with bf3, in my attempt to update my drivers the following things have happened, my screen will be black when i boot up, this has happened multiple times after multiple safe mode driver sweeps , reinstalls , resets and everytime i think its fixed, i run into the same issue again.

The rest of my specs are as followed, 8gb ddr3, 750gb seagate momentus xt, Windows 7 64-bit, I think the real issue is coming from the fact that the 6520G is not being updated by any new driver release but the 6650m IS so in turn my computer is trying to run two different driver versions, I can't live with the bad performance of the old drivers and i cant live with the headaches of the new ones either, so what am I supposed to do?

Also with the new drivers installed catalyst refuses to load manually, I can't access switchable graphics, advanced mode, anything it simply shows the loading animation then nothing at all, task manager also does not show CCC running.

Unfortunately due to my system being a laptop I do not have those bios options nor did multiple reboots solve the issue.

 

However I did install the beta 12.7 drivers in a desperate attempt to get it working, it seems that the 6520g is NOT supported in any of the latest drivers but is supported in the beta 12.7, I am no longer experiencing the black screen issue and both of my gpus are now using the same driver version, I am experiencing random driver crashes which may be becuase of the beta, I detect no difference at all between using crossfirex and not using crossfirex in bf3, fps remains the same which leads me to think that bf3 does not support crossfire?

Lenovo support software doesn't even list my laptop as a supported device, uninstalled the new drivers, reinstalled the old drivers and now crossfire is working, although without the bf3 optmizations of the new ones, I will probably avoid purchasing another laptop with mobile AMD cards in it due to the lack of consistant driver support, I am aware alot of this falls on Lenovo but it does appear that AMD has not updated the driver for the 6520g in about 8 months and only plans to push out an update with the 12.7 release.
