Hello,

I just bought HP laptop i7 2.1 GHz 3612qm, 4 GB RAMs DDR3, with AMD Radeon HD 7670m and windows 7 home basic; my problems are as follows: 1st the Driver Verifier can't detect my AMD Driver, 2nd dxdiag reads only the intel HD 4000 that came with the processor, 3rd it is dynamic switchable graphic cards in which less performance while running games, I can feel my Graphic card can give me more fps, but no.

btw i am using the 12.7 beta catalyst control center.

I want to run my Radeon HD as my main graphic card instead of Intel HD and make it visible and readable by the system.

thanks,

Please look in the laptop forum for similar posts. AMD does not support switchable graphics as stated in the release notes for mobility drivers. You must get your graphics drivers from HP.

Also, make sure that you download the CCC application installer package from your laptop manufacturer's site.

For non-reference components.....absolutely!!  I believe AMD and NVidia both state that if you are trying to find drivers for your laptop/notebook you should only do so from your laptop/notebook manufacture's site.

Cheers!

The thing about notebooks is that aside from the hard drive, basically everything is tied in with something else, and to keep it all tied together the OEM, be it HP or Compaq or whoever, will take a set of reference drivers and custom tailor them to the specific model. AMD provides a reference driver set for people to download, but it can break OEM specific features as well as cause other issues. They tend to work better on the "smaller" manufacturers notebooks (MSI, ASUS, etc) instead of the huge mass market units from HP and the other big companies.

But overall, if I read your post right, your laptop has Intel switchable graphics, which AMD cannot support with their driver set, as Intel would rather go bankrupt than give AMD access to their technology.

then maybe thats why dxdiag shows intel hd as my main graphic driver, and not the amd radeon, correct?

maybe an option in the BIOS to select the discrete graphics card and not the integrated Intel?  Not sure though....never owned or messed with switchable graphics before.......or rather, yet.

Quote from mobility driver download:

The AMD Mobility Radeon Driver Verification tool helps you determine your notebook’s compatibility with generic AMD Catalyst Mobility drivers. It helps to prevent incorrect installation on incompatible notebooks which may lead to disabled features or functionality.
If you experience difficulty while using the generic AMD Catalyst Mobility drivers, we recommend reverting to the driver provided by your notebook vendor. Please contact your notebook vendor for their most recent graphics drivers.
The following notebooks are not compatible with this tool:
Notebooks equipped with switchable graphics
