I am having problems with my dual graphics setup on my laptop. My laptop is the Dell Insprion M5110. The specs are : AMD A8-3520m Processor, 6GB of DDR3-1333 RAM, a discrete AMD graphics card (7450m OR 6470m?), running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and no modifications has been done to it. When I recieved this laptop, the drivers dell has put in named the Graphics Card as the AMD Radeon HD 7450m and when I ran games such as Test Drive Unlimited 2, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2011 and Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed, ONLY the integrated Amd Radeon HD 6620G was being used. (Note: All games ran in full screen)I have turned on Dual Graphics and set each game to High Performance. I have now updated the driver to 12.8 directly from AMD's (amddriverdownloader) program and installed it just fine aswell as downloading the 12.8CAP2 from the AMD Game Forums download section. Still no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! And PS: When running benchmarks (3DMark 11 and Unigine Heaven 3.0), both graphics cards would work, but the integrated 6620g would keep changing frequencies from 444mhz to 276mhz causing major micro-stuttering so any help on that would be greatly appreciated aswell.

Make sure you have the latest bios update. There are solutions > http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03048333

and for openGL > http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02948560

I don't think that would be compatible with a Dell lol. Would it? Lol, and thanks for the reply

Oooops Ahh well the bios thing still holds true...and maybe the openGL part as well. Is there a option in the bios to use the discreet graphics as primary?

Nope .. There is "Powernow!" in the bios. Enabling it allows it to go into slower processor states to save battery/power, and disabling it just keeps it into the highest speed available for it. Pretty sure it's supposed to be named "Cool n Quiet" but you know.. Dell. As for the games, I'm pretty sure those games are on DX10/11 not OpenGL, and I do run them on fullscreen like I have mentioned, it's just that it's not using the available discrete 6470m AT ALL. :/

Thanks for trying to help, really thank you. But as far as I know, there are no options for selecting INTI Display or anything related to it lol. Bios is updated to the latest that Dell offers, on AMD Catalyst 12.8, with 12.8CAP2 profiles. Still no luck with the games using the discrete graphics card :/. Using the Dell Drivers would mess things up, since when I use their drivers, the card name changes to 7450m, and then once the 7450m enters ULPS Mode and I try to test it, there will be artifacts. Disabling ULPS when on DELL's driver would cause the system to crash on welcome screen, but disabling ULPS on AMD's LATEST drivers would work fine.

Might I suggest going to Dell's forums? All we can really do is guess since we don't have that laptop.

I will do so after this. But I am posting it here aswell wondering if anyone had this problem running a dual graphics setup in any laptop and if anyone had/have a solution to this. :/ It works for 3DMark11 and MSI Kombustor on GPU Burn-in using DX11 fullscreen. But the games don't seem to pick on the graphics card and just completely ignoring it.. (Need For Speed Shift 2, Hot pursuit 2011, and Test Drive Unlimited 2)

And one more question ( Dont wanna start a new topic and waste space here ), shouldn't my graphics hardware be detected as a 6640G2 (6470m+6620g)? Amd System Monitor doesn't read it as a 6640G2 .  And I rolled back to the driver dell gave to the laptop, no differences besides the name change to a 7450m and it's mainly just a stripped down version of Cat. 12.8.

Not that we are trying to brush you off, but black_Zion is correct, you really should be discussing your issue with Dell.  I am interested in what they have to say and would like you to stop back in with what they are telling you so we know how to deal with the next person that asks this question.  It really is hard to give any advice when we don't have the laptop in front of us to look at.

Alright, well dell obviously didn't listen about me already using their drivers ( They just told me to download their own driver ). I've already used their driver, the only differences was just a stripped down version of Catalyst 12.8 and a name change from 6470m to 7450m. So Im back to using AMD's latest 12.8 Driver and the discrete graphics card is now back to 6470m. Dual graphics is on, but AMD System Monitor doesn't detect it as an 6640G2. Here's a screenshot. http://imageshack.us/f/99/dwm2012091623171429.jpg/

I'm very sorry for annoying you guys, I just need help :/. If Im asking for too much here just tell me, thanks!
