As for AMD doing something about the drivers, they can't due to however Samsung decided to implement features of said machine - AMD only supply the technology, the manufacturers build on said tech and use it to their own specifications - hence drivers not working if downloaded from AMD etc. This is mentioned all over AMD's website on Catalyst Mobility pages and the driver release notes.
If the generic drivers supplied by AMD are not compatible, then you have to use whatever the manufacturer issues as compatible / suitable / working for that particular machine etc .. It's not up to AMD to do anything, it's up to the manufacturer as they use AMD's technology to their own specs for their own proprietary machines.
