I have a hp pavillion dv7-4069wm laptop. Windows 7 64-bit, AMD Phenom II N830 triple core 2.1GHz CPU (8Gb RAM), Mobility Radeon HD 5470 DDR3 (512Mb VRAM) DX11 GPU, System board 1443 67.33, System BIOS F.28

I have successfully installed every catalyst update for the past 2 years as they are released thru catalyst 12.4. Catalyst 12.6 & 12.8 successfully installs for me, but after it is finished & I reboot Windows notifies me that there is no display driver available. Catalyst 12.6 & 12.8 will not boot up. I have tried uninstalling in programs & express uninstall from the AMD Install Manager before attempting a reinstall. For some reason the Install Manager will not uninstall from programs in Windows. All Windows will do is attempt to repair the AMD Install Manager. I like to keep my drivers up to date because I buy new games frequently. The notes for the Mobility Radeon Catalyst 12.6 & 12.8 pages both show my GPU is supported, but I have had no luck with them at all. Does anyone know if there are any known fixes for this issue I am having with my 5470? This is my 3rd month without being able to update my GPU, & I am starting to get agrivated by the lack of support or response from AMD. I have reported this issue to AMD several times with very detailed info for them, but I have recieved 0 replies. Now I am trying to find help here. Anyone?

Curious, are downloading these drivers from HP or AMD?  If you are getting them from AMD, I would suggest trying the drivers from HP that are for your laptop as they maybe modified for their product.

Try these drivers > http://benchmark3d.com/amd-catalyst-9-001-september-4 First uninstall the old drivers then reboot. Run driver Fusion..select AMD graphics, delete all it finds. Reboot. Then install the new driver suite.

@ Canis-X I always download from AMD unless I am forced to revert back to an older version. The extremely old hp version of AMD Catalyst suite will not run half of my games(Rage,Skyrim,Shogun 2, ect). Catalyst 12.4 downloaded from AMD runs all of the games I have right now, but there are performance boosts reported for some of my games with the newer catalyst 12.6 & 12.8 versions. Also I will be wanting some of the new games released in the next 6 months that will probably have issues with catalyst 12.4. I was hoping to wait one more year before buying a new PC, but at this point I'm not sure that waiting that long will be possible.

@ stumped Is this driver you gave a link for safe for laptops (Mobility Radeon)? I am willing to try it, but I couldn't get enough info on what it offers or what cards it is compatible with. I am not educated enough to do manual registry repairs if it doesn't work. Is there any info on that driver available, or can you verify it works for Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series?

I was hoping that AMD would resolve my issue with a newer Catalyst version, but not yet.
