Go back to the operating system that was on the laptop. Laptops are for the most part all proprietary so trying a new OS on one is not a good idea....You should only install a new OS on reference hardware...i.e. a computer that you build yourself.
Also, AMD does not support switchable graphics so if you wish to continue down this path you will have to work with HP.
