After having upgraded my Dell Zino HD equipped with Mobility Radeon HD5450 graphics card from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro and downloaded the latest version of AMD Catalyst Control Center 12.10 I no longer can adjust  the underscan nor the pixel colour format (which needs to be set to RGB 4:4:4 to avoid a pink screen). In fact when I open the catalyst control center it displays no graphic settings at all!With Windows 7 I was running the AMD Vision Engine Control Center. With Windows 8 the only option is to download the latest version of the Catalyst Control Center.Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can adjust underscan. Right now my PC is pretty useless as a HTPC as the screen has thick black borders and intermittently swicthes to pink.

Your best bet is to go to Dell's support site and use their Win 8 drivers. Doesn't matter the age. Also you should look for bios updates...look for Win8 upgrade from Win7 (or something like that).

I got it to work yesterday evening after having just downloaded the AMD driver package but not installing it immediately. Instead I located the downloaded file and then ran it as administrator - now suddenly the AMD vision engine control center was added as a program to be installed!? (previously it was always only the catalyst control center). I do not quite understand the logic here, but it worked and after that when right-clicking on the desktop the engine control center application could be started and from there all the graphic settings were available (including underscan and pixel colour format).

Perhaps in Windows 8 a local account does not automatically have admin rights as was the case for windows 7; but this is just me speculating.

Method 2:

If the issue still persists, install the drivers in compatibility mode:

Steps to download the drivers in compatibility mode:

1. Place the driver installation file on the Desktop.

2. Right Click on the driver installation file and

3. Select the Compatibility Tab.

4. Click Apply or OK.

5. Right Click on the file and select the Run as Administrator option to install.
