Help me please I got black screen after startup but when I boot in safe mode it works fine. I even tried reformatting my laptop and install a fresh copy of windows 7 professional 32bit but still no luck. My problem is that when I try to install my hd5470 driver I got black screen after winows logo.

first install netframeworks 4.5 > http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=444&threadid=162109&enterthread=y

then go to Windows update and check for any updates (not just critical)

After you have done all that > http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=444&threadid=162444&enterthread=y

Boot into safe mode and check the event viewer. You may find something suspicious.

Did the problem begin only after trying to do a driver update?  I assume it was for a time working without issue.

Is it the laptop's display that is going blank after Windows begins to boot?

Try the driver that MSI provides on their site:
