Computer: HP G42 358TX, 2GB RAM, AMD radeon HD 5470

REcently thr computer has been shutting down and the screen shows red quilt like pattern before the screen shuts off and recovers with the message "AMD Display driver has stopped responding and recoverd".. It only recently started doing this.

I hav updated to latest drivers and that did't solve it and have also restored the system to an earlier date and still no fix. Sometimes the screen won't come on during boot. Sometimes I can use the compouter for an hour, sometimes for only a couple minutes before this happens again. This happens even under minimal graphics load (ie simple browsing).

The laptop is about 2 years old and i have done quite a bit of gaming and regularly watch HD videos.. It gets very hot at times, cooling isn't adequate for the tropics but i use a cooling base.

Is there any solution to this problem?
