i recently had to do a factory reset on my hp pavilion dv6 and as expected i had to update the drivers on my graphics cards,as it a laptop with switchable cards i couldnt use the generic drivers so i went to the hp website for the drivers but hp hasnt updated the drivers for my laptop since 2010. luckily steam was able to download and install the newest drivers available for my setup, however since the installation ive noticed stuttering and fps drops while playing games most notablly are fps drops in gmod and major stuttering in doom 3 and i cant figure out if its a problem with the new drivers or something i have done all i know is before i did a factory reset the drivers that where installed where not the latest but worked perfectly while the newest dont. i would really appreciate any advice anyone has that can lead to fixing this.

The problem is you let steam install your drivers. Uninstall them, and download the ones from HP again.

Or uninstall your drivers, and try the ones from AMD's website.

But that's the thing the hp ones are 3 years out of date and aren't updated anymore ill just have all my games warning me about my outdated drivers if I use those ones. And I can't use the ones from the mad website because my laptop has switchable graphics cards and and state that the generic drivers you get from their website are not compatible with switchable graphics card set ups. Also the previous version of the drivers from steam worked its only started happening since the update.
