I've made so many posts all over the internet looks like nobody wants to help or don't know. i have a alienware laptop my gpu is 6990m 2 gb this card used to work fine on my win764 as soon as i installed 13.1 catalyst drivers my laptop kept randomly rebooting..not while in gaming so its not heat related i have my temps very low i track them with msi afterburner. so after i installed newest catalyst drivers my laptop started randomly rebooting..no bsod or anything and yes i have unchecked that automatically restart box  but still no bsod i ran memory tests no problems. everytime i restart it would restart when i get to my desktop. but when i uninstall catalyst drivers it would never reboot randomly like that. i installed al lthe updated new catalyst drivers 13.1 12.2 even 13.6 beta 2 and my situation got worse to the point my windows crashed i had to reformat. reformat didnt install catalyst no reboots. oh there is 1 more thing if i underclock my card on msi after burner if i downclock my clocks it would not reboot but my performance would be very low i can't game like that. before all these drivers my card used to work fine. i did not even overclock it i was using the default clocks. now i uninstalled new drivers and installed 12.11 beta driver it does not reboot as often right now but drivers really messed me up if anyone knows whats going on please help.

Get your drivers from the laptop manufacturer.

..and did you ask dell first if your computer could handle that much of a upgrade in graphics? The 6990m pulls alot more power.

Yes..it's been handling it very well over a year now..if i uninstall catalyst it works well so i know it's not my motherboard or ram. everything used to be fine. i know people run amd 7970m on their m15x easly. do you think maybe the card is going bad? or maybe my ac adapter? it never reboots while im playing games i can run any game on high settings no problem i can game 5 hours no reboots. but when i restart my computer it starts rebooting or when it's idle. no bsod or anything at all

quote "  i know people run amd 7970m on their m15x easly."" may be true for newer models. Older ones with core duo processors, etc,, were not designed for modern (relatively) graphics with higher power demands...there are probably bios updates that you must have looked into....but, how does that explain why it works great gaming and craps out reading e-mail? Strange.
