I have a Samsung Series 3 laptop that was dropped causing the screen and case to break. The CPU was not damaged. My question is: Can I use the CPU (AMD Quad-Core A8-3510MX) in a desktop motherboard? If so, what are my motherboard choices? I have most of the hardware needed for a desktop (case, graphic card, hard drive, power supply). If I’m unable to use the CPU in a desktop, are there other options?

Unfortunately, you will not be able to use a laptop based processor in a desktop computer. If you already have a desktop motherboard, than you will want to get a cpu that matches the motherboard socket. The AMD Quad-Core A8-3510MX is used on laptop system with a FS1 socket.  You will want to go with a motherboard that supports the FM2 socket. The FM2 socket is used for our second generation APU processors.
