Hello, I recently bought the MSI GX70 3BE and really expected a smoother gaming performance. Currently, I cannot even run league of legends at a stable enough framerate, even though on summoners rift it usually stays at over 45. However, you can feel the mouse lag and stuttering. The effect is amplified on the ARAM map with fps around 35.

The worst performance I encountered was with the Spring engine, more precisely balance annihilation, during lategame with high unitcount. Where, the graphics card does not even reach 20% of its capacity, however the FPS is at 5-10.

Similarily whilst playing ARMA 2 with dayzmod, the laptop sometimes turns the cpu clock all the way down to ~1.35ghz from around ~ghz causing a massive fps drop from the already low fps (runs around 25fps > in cities cherno fps drops to 5-10).

Recently whilst watching a video on gamespot the laptop completely froze and had to "hard" shutdown and start the laptop again.

The maximum utilization of the apu/cpu reaches at the most 95%, but the turbo core never goes over 3.2ghz, which is short of the specified 3.5ghz.

The utilization of the performance mobile gpu 8970 has never gone above 50%, which occured in GTA IV with lowest view and detail settings, but other settings high. (if view distance is turned up the game runs around 25fps however if the camera turns or you move too fast, the game constantly stutters.)

I tried the latest beta drivers and others (13.8mobility_beta,13.8mobility_beta2), however the MSI standard drivers (13.4) offered the best performance.

Lastly, changing graphics options ingame does not really impact fps, other than settings directly related/corresponing to cpu tasks.

Thanks for any help,

Mart

Hello Mardikas.. Is your problem solved? Im asking, because im fighting with the same problem. Also i heard something about the cpu. The cpu's max temp limit is 70°C and when we reach +70°C then our cpu speed is slowing and take it down to the 1.35Ghz. Im not sure that is true (max limit is 70°C). Also i captured 2 video about that and the video language is Turkish but it's not important, just watch the video and you will get it.

First, is your laptop power setting "Max Performance"? In the advanced power setting do you have the minimum processor speed at 100%? Have you disabled any power saving applications the laptop has? Is this laptop configured with the "Enduro" switchable graphics? Is this laptop equiped with switchable graphics? In the Overdrive section of the CCC, do you have a power slider? and is it set to +20?

To summarize the brilliant advices of the two previous posters:

1. watch your temps, cool down the laptop

2. disable all power savings and test the performance again

Yea my laptop's power setting "Max Performance". I think i don't use any power saving application.
I don't know my laptop configured with the "Enduro" switchable graphics(sorry can't remember what is that O.o) but i can switch my graphic cart from 8650G to HD8970M for games. Also i can't disable 8650G when i do, a black screen appear and laptop restart self and when i look which carts active, i see 8650G active again and also 8970M too.

Also i can't find the Overdrive section, i think there is no Overdrive section in my CCC (my CCC version is 14.4) and i did many times clean uninstall and install but nothing changed.
And i updated my drivers from the http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GX70_3BE.html and it's still giving same performance. I can't format my laptop cuz i don't have Windows disc but i did 2-3 times factory setting and updated to latest drivers-still same performance.

Power saving settings would be in PowerXpress and PowerPlay....make sure they are not enabled. In your computer control panel, you should have a Mobility center...make sure it is set to high performance. Go into your bios....if you have entry for PowerXpress disable it...then look for performance settings...you should see something like graphics switchable (or something like that) and the default setting is 'Dynamic" (or something similar) change that to "fixed" or "static" (or something similar). That will disable your low power graphics card and allow the use of the more powerful card exclusively. While your in the bios, or anywhere else, if you see anything relating to 'Enduro'...let me know.

In my laptop's all setting is already high performance. I checkd all of my settings and they are "high performance" also i can understand is it on high or low from my laptop's Power button.

If my settings on "low performance" my laptop's Power button led "white", if it's on "high performance" my led is "red". So my led is "red" while using my laptop then we can say "that laptop is on high performance", but for sure i checkd my settings 3 times and they are on "high".

I will check bios what you say and will let you know. Going to check now also i will take a few bios pictures with my phone.

It will be easy with the videos but i don't know if i do that, is my guarantee will be broke? Because if it is going to be broke when i do unlock thing, then i will go to the MSI's Service.
