Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VPCYB1S1E netbook running 32 bit Windows 8, graphics card is AMD too, HD6310, and it's been causing me a lot of trouble (the same happened when I had it running Windows 7 and even JoliCloud).

The computer is clean, free of virus and malware, but the CPU usage is always very high, and it's impossible to watch HD videos (not even 480p on youtube!). Whenever I try to watch a video, the CPU usage maxes out, even chatting on facebook (using google chrome) is frustrating...

Also, the fan noise is louder than those on my notebooks, it never stops!

According to the reviews of the graphics card and processor, I was supposed to be able to edit pictures using Lightroom and play decent games, but I can't even watch 480p videos.

Can anyone please help me?

Call sony, if your CPU is constantly being pegged out at 100% some program I would imagine something is hogging your CPU usage. Open up the task manager and see if its an executable thats doing it or something else. Probably some random program hogging all of your CPU.

BTW an E-350 is an extremely slow entry level CPU. So don't expect anything great out of it in any sense of the imagination.

I'd take it back and get something with at least an A10-5750M or better series. As those can do some 720P gaming @ medium settings on alot of games.

This is not being caused by any Sony or whatever program, as I've removed most of them and clean installed Windows 8.

I know this CPU is not great in terms of performance, but mine's is proving to be worse that a mono core Atom and nowhere as near as the described in the reviews, being them on the netbook, on the graphics card or even on the processor. The CPU usage is only pegged out at 100% (49% shown in the Tasks Manager) when I try to watch a video or play a game, and net browsing is really slow. That's why I am asking you guys for help

That sub-netbook came with a win7 OS. Did you check with Sony support to see if it was Win8 approved? If so, they will have drivers for it...as you know, and stated in the "Updating Mobility Drivers" sticky, you cannot use anything but Sony graphics drivers,

Did it do this while on the stock OS the unit came with?

Yes it did Vantharas, as I've mentioned in the first post.

Is there any diagnostic log that can help?

Hmm, I got nothing then. If the E-350 is that slow and unable to play youtube videos I'm out.

The last thing I would do is grab an OEM copy of windows 7, (Not the factory image that sony installs ect..) Then install that, and only the required drivers off the website. (sound , video , USB drivers , ) No sony software and See if it happens. (Or windows 8)

Baring that the only thing I would be able to think of is that the unit is entirely to slow to play HD content. Honestly when it comes to hardware that slow I don't have any personaly experience with it.

I would ask on the sony forums to see if they have any reported issues similar to yours.

I've done that with Windows 8 and it still happens.

By the way, according to the tasks manager, my CPU's maximum speed/frequency is 1.60GHz, but it never gest past 0,78, which is 49% in terms of CPU usage. Does this help getting to know what problem I may have?

Sony uses proprietary drivers...you can't use generic/reference drivers from AMD. As stated in "updating mobility drivers'.

All of my drivers were downloaded from Sony's website.
