AMD Radeon 7340G (included with AMD E2-1800)
Driver version: 8.982.10.5-120912a1-148026C-HP
Running Windows 8 64Bit

Hi all! I have looked at how to install/update amd graphics drivers on the AMD site. However i have also looked on google and discovered that using this method (where you uninstall the existing graphics driver by uninstalling AMD Cataylst uninstall manager in the control panel) when you have an AMD CPU/chipset can delete essential chipset driver files.

Is this true? If so how should i update my graphics driver?

You do not choose "express uninstall all AMD software"...choose a custom uninstall and deselect chipset. Just the drivers and the control panel.

apparently i dont have the option to uninstall "AMD display driver" when i choose the custom uninstall option, i only have HDMI audio driver, AMD USB driver filter and AMD Vision control center. Is this normal?

I don't know since I don't have a AMD cpu. I will tell you this, people who have inadvertently uninstalled the chipset while deleting the graphics driver go >here< and install the chipset package. If it was me, I would express uninstall everything, reboot, install the new graphics drivers and new chipset, reboot.

I have heard that people lose usb functionality when they have uninstalled AMD chipset drivers, will my laptop mousepad still work? can't i just install the new driver without uninstalling the existing driver?

well i ended up installing the new drivers without uninstalling the old one and it turned out fine and i've noticed a slight performance boost, one thing i didn't anticipate is that "AMD Vision Engine Control Center" changed to "AMD Catalyst Control Center"

Anyway thanks for the help Stumped
