Hi,

About 3 years ago, I bought a Sony Vaio. After about 1 1/2 years, I encountered first crashes of the driver and a recovery.

While recently, I had to perform a complete reinstall from the recovery disks, I encountered BSOD referring to the atikmdag.sys

I reinstalled now from a clean Win 7 install disk. I downloaded the AMD driver autodetect, which detects mobility radeon HD 5xxx series and suggests the catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe

Thereafter a pop-up message in french which roughly translates to

'the amd catalyst couldnt be downloaded because the hardware or software of the computer isn't compatible. the version of the graphic card isn't supported'.

Any ideas where I could go from here ?

thanks

Read the "Installing Mobility Drivers" sticky. Then go to Sony support/downloads and install the graphics drivers for your model.
