Hey guys my friend has an Asus G73Jh which has a intel i7 1.6ghz processor and AMD Mobility Radeon 5870 graphics card. We just used the recovery partition on the hard drive to revert from w8 back to the factory w7 and now we are trying to install the newest stable Catalyst driver 13.12. Unfortunatly during the install when it gets to the display adapter part the screen flickers a couple time, turns into a black screen where you can still see the mouse, then turns into a blue screen. What could be the problem? This is a fresh install of w7 unless the w7 copy on the recovery partition is messed up. Is there something I'm missing? Help please!

Have you installed all of the updates from Windows update...including the 'suggested' updates (but not any update that deals with graphics!) ? Check Intel updates using the driver update tool > HERE < .

Intel I7 960 @ 3.87ghz *Intel DX58SO *HIS HD6970 2gb *Corsair TX650M *2x4gb Corsair XMS3 *WD Black 1TB *Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ***Asus N71Jq laptop *Intel I7 720QM Processor *Mobility Radeon HD5730 1gb *8gb Ram *Windows 7 64bit ** Toshiba P75-A7200 * Intel I7-4700MQ * Windows 8.1 64bit

Nope i haven't, perhaps I got ahead of myself then. It looks like it's going to take a long time to install all the updates because there are hundreds lol. Whenever it finally finishes I'll try installing catayst again and I'll let you know how it goes.

Sorry that took so long, so I updated as much as I could, but there are 3 windows updates that fail everytime now so I've come to a stand still. Code 800b0100. I've tried multiple programs from microsoft that would supposedly fix the issue but they didn't. So I decided to try installing Catalyst and now it doesn't blue screen anymore, it just fail's at installing the display adapter and hdmi audio driver so it says the overall install is a success with some warnings. So although better than blu-screening it still fail's at installing two things. What do I do now?

Whoa I just saw at the bottom of the report: "Driver Install: user must be a member of the Administrators group." Wow this could be an easy fix, I'll try installing again while running it as administrator.

*Edit Ok WTF. Same error! Im on an administrator account, AND i right clicked the setup file and ran it as administrator, what kind of error is this? Why does it NOT think am an administrator?
