After using the install manager from control panel to uninstall my AMD drivers, I can no longer install new AMD drivers without major graphics corruption.
The card is an AMD Radeon HD 6700 with no overclocking ever performed on it. I used to have 12.8 installed over the original HP driver.
The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit with the latest service pack.
The card was included with my HP Pavillion DV7 "Entertainment edition" with the product number of LW170UA#ABA.
General system specs:
Intel Core i7-2630GM @ 2.00 GHz
8 GB RAM
BIOS InsydeH2O 3.5 (HP branded)
Memtest86 was run with no errors.
The issue is that no drivers can be installed without display corruption upon bootup that immediately leads to a BSOD. Installing the HP-given driver allows the system to get to the desktop before corruption and immediate BSOD. Installing any other driver will disable the backlight and BSOD immediately after the Starting Windows logo.
Steps tried so far:
- Uninstallation and reinstallation of AMD drivers using built in uninstaller in safe mode, as well as deep cleaning using Display Driver Uninstaller.
