Hello everyone.

So I have a Dell Latitude E6540, with these specs :

  • Processeur Intel® Core™ i7-4800MQ
  • Windows 7 Pro 64 bits
  • DDR3L 8 Go  1600 MHz
  • Hybrid SSD 500 Go (5 400 tr/min) with 8 Go of flash memory
  • Carte graphique AMD Radeon HD 8690M GDDR5 de 2 Go
  • Integrated GPU Intel HD Graphics 4600.

This is my work laptop, and I work a lot with virtual machines with Windows Remote Desktop Connection. I have 2 problems, and they are both related to the drivers.

First one :
I also use my laptop to play, on games like Diablo3 or Nether. I configured games to be played with the AMD GPU in the configuration panel. After a period of time between 20 minutes and 1 hour, the game begins to stutter, the sound crackles and FPS drop to 12/15. If I don't ALT+F4 the game, the whole PC will freeze and I'd have to restart it.
This happens with an old version of the drivers. (13.251.0.0 released on 2013/12/06 YYYY/MM/dd)

Second one:
To try to solve this problem, I downloaded the newest version of the drivers, currently being AMD catalyst 14.3 Beta V1.0. The game problems are resolved, BUT...and there is a big but. I can't run any RDP connection anymore, because each time I do it, both of my screens go black and I'm good to reboot my laptop. (working on dual screen with my laptop closed)

Nota Bene:
I also tryed the latest WHQL drivers, but it was worse than the two issues above. I only had 1 screen displaying something, and this screen displayed my desktop multiple times, each overlapping the other. Looked like a full screen of random colored pixels.

 

Does anyone know what can cause this and how to resolve it? Thank you.

The beta drivers require that the previous drivers be completely uninstalled before installing the new drivers. Try this...uninstall the current drivers using your computers 'uninstall a program' in the control panel. Select 'AMD Install manager' and express uninstall all AMD software..including the install manager. Reboot. Install these drivers. Reboot.
