Hi

I've a notebook:
Samsung Ativ 6 - Windows 7 (64 bits)
AMD Radeon HD 8800M Series

After update AMD Catalyst 14.4 Mobility (notebook version):

I could check on "Device Manager" my card was renamed to AMD Radeon R9 M270X instead AMD Radeon HD 8800M Series..

The performance isn't working anymore on games.

If I click on "Unistall" and "Scan Drivers" the manager found AMD Radeon HD 8800M again.

I've tested a lot of times, uninstall, re-install, with AMD Catalyst 14.4 mobility software, but wihtout sucess.

Any help would be great!
Thank you

To perform a 'clean install' of AMD graphics drivers:

1. IMPORTANT: All Windows Updates should be current, including the 'optional/suggested' updates
2. IMPORTANT: Disable all anti-virus/ad blockers/anti-malware/ anti-anything before trying to install
3. IMPORTANT: Netframework is required and must be the latest version. (from Windows Update)

Create a system restore point before, just in case.

Download the drivers for your computer to the desktop. Follow steps 1-5 ( http://support.amd.com/en-us/download ).
Do not use 'auto-detect and install.

Delete existing drivers from your computer:

In computer control panel select 'uninstall a program'

For computers with Intel processors:
Select AMD install manager and choose 'express uninstall all AMD software'
Including the install manager.

For computers with AMD processors:
Select AMD install manager and 'custom uninstall' the graphics drivers and CCC only.

Reboot into 'safe mode'
In safe mode run DDU (uninstaller)  http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html
Select AMD graphics, analyse and delete all it finds.

Reboot

Install the new driver suite.

 Reboot

NOTE! Certain laptop configurations are not compatible with AMD's Mobility Catalyst™ Driver.
AMD provides graphics drivers for most laptop brands and models for the Mobility Radeon™ HD series of graphics cards.
If the AMD Mobility Radeon Driver Verification tool reports that the hardware is incompatible, then the notebook manufacturer is the exclusive provider of the graphics drivers for your notebook. (GPU-28041)
Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic will not accept generic drivers. Get drivers from manufacturers support site.
Laptops with 'switchable' graphics must use manufacturer supplied drivers.

I can't find it now, but if memory serves, the 8850 is a OEM card/chip which is a re-branded R9 M270x. I would not worry about it.

EDIT: OK..I found it

The performance isn't working anymore on games.

Could you please clarify as to what you mean by that ?

Do you actually see lower min and max fps in-game or on benchmarks ?

Thanks.

hmm Thanks for share this information stumped.

backFireX64

Yes, FPS is deacreasing on gaming.

Example:

I used to play League of Legends with  +80FPS ~ 100FPS.
After Catalyst update my FPS decreased and it is oscilating between 20 and 60, and sometimes freeze when have to much actions on screen.

Go to Intel support and use the driver update utility. Can you take a screen shot of your setting in the CCC/VECC ? The gaming 3D and the Overdrive settings.

Uncheck surface format optimization and use application controlled tesselation. Do you have anything like this?

Ooops...brain fart...I forgot its a laptop. The Intel search should have found the Intel 4000 graphics. Go into the bios, check for any 'power play', 'cool and quite', 'PowerXpress' settings (or anywhere else in your computer)...these should be disabled. Look under performance and see if there is a graphics setting...if so, change it to 'static' or 'fixed' or something similar...anything but automatic or dynamic.

Also...do you have your computer power setting (from control panel) set to max performance? There are advanced power settings, make sure you have your minimum/maximum processor speed set to 100%.

Hi

I didn't find these options on BIOS.
Intel search didin't bring results for Intel 4000 Graphics

Also all power settings are set to max performance options on (High Performance plan).

I've tried to download some 13.12 drivers to Downgrade, but these installers didn't work well.

[EDIT]

I found similar cases in a Forum that reproduce exactly my experience in a "League of Legends" forum:
I think is a game update problem.

I'll test my performance with another applicationthen update here.

For rest of games FPS still working as well.

It is an isoletad case of League Of Legends.
Without response from their team.

Thanks for your investigation.
I think you can use this topic for another League Of Legends player with simillar issues.
