Hi, I have an HP Pavilion m6-1090se with additional RAM totalling 12GB (instead of 6GB)

Graphics Card

AMD Radeon 7670M 2GB

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History
-13.9
-14.4
-14.6 Beta
-14.7 Beta

Operating System
64-Bit Windows 7 Profession SP1

Issue Details

I bought this laptop about 1.5 years ago and since then I never had any issue of updating my catalyst drivers.

A couple of months ago I tried to install catalyst 14.4 and was unable to do so. Thinking of it as a problem on my end, I restored my PC to with the recovery disks and upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (as it has Windows 7 Home Premium by default). The problem was still there. I reinstalled 13.9 and waited for newer catalyst versions.

The same problem occurs in the 14.6 and recently released 14.7 beta versions. After trying both I have again reinstalled 13.9 which runs without any problem.

I uninstall 13.9, reboot, install 14.4,14.6 or 14.7, it runs successfuly but soon after rebooting, I get the following message and am unable to use the GPU

No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware.

Thank you

First, you must be sure that (1) you have all the updates from Microsoft...run Windows Update and install the relevent 'optional' and 'recommended' updates. Then check for a bios update for your laptop from HP. (2) Follow the guide for a clean install of the driver suite..located in the FAQ section of the forum.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have the latest updates from windows. The only updates which I have hidden are these.

Hidden updates

Secondly, I have the latest BIOS available from HP, version F.25

I'll try this clean uninstall today. One more thing, I dont know if this is relevant or not but whenever I use catalyst clean uninstaller, it runs successfully but after rebooting windows crashes on the windows logo screen. Then I have to restore the system to the time before the uninstall from startup recovery to use windows again. This wont happen with this clean uninstall, right?

Thanks

No...and the AMD clean installer has been pulled, as it causes the issue you mentioned. Just follow the guide and everything will be ok. Hopefully

No. Stop right there. You should have mentioned Enduro. Your drivers must come from HP.

"' Please note, that the AMD Catalyst Mobility driver package can only be installed on specific AMD Enduro platforms, that are second generation AMD A-series APU, or third generation Intel Core family based.""

Does the above disclaimer from AMD meet your laptop components ?

If so, then use the 'normal' install method...forget using DDU.

I think yes cause my processor is 3rd Gen Intel Core i5

And as I have told in the initial post, the normal install method (with catalyst drivers 14.4, 14.6 and 14.7) gives the following error after installation and reboot

Enduro systems have been problematic from the start. If you have a version that works, 13.9, I would stay with it. But if you want the latest drivers, you should try the Leshcat drivers. They install the latest Intel driver and latest Amd drivers and doesn't mess up the Enduro/switchable function. Remember to follow his directions and have a working version of Enduro, as Leshcat drivers install over the existing drivers (and they must be working correctly).

I dont think I have enough knowledge to fix my system after messing around with modified drivers. I guess I'll wait for the next releases of catlayst, maybe one works like 13.9

Thanks anyways
