Hi, I have a problem with my 4850. I'm running Win 7 64 bit and whenever I try to install the latest 12.6 version as soon as it's the video card goes bizerk. The Fan will run at 100% and the video is not able to be used until I delete the drivers. This is probably a newbie question but need some help.
Unless more information is provided, I may aswell guess that unicorns have some role in crashing your system. Please press the "FAQ" button on the top right corner and fill us in with the information.

Why not? OpenGL is broken in previous releses. You can't launch NWN or Rage or Jedi Academy and maybe a lot of other games. Driver updates are not just about performance you know.

That one is ancient. Doesn't even support application profiles, so no optimalization for new games then. Try using it for Rage. What if someone wants everything to work?

Then they would use an 11.x set? Maybe 12.1? All I'm saying is that it's not necessary to use the absolute latest drivers for a card more than a year or so old.

Run DriverSweeper in safe mode then start at 12.1, if you still have the issue then go to 11.12, then 11.9, 11.6, 11.3, 11.1, using DriverSweeper in safe mode each time, after uninstalling in normal mode first of course, taking care not to remove the USB or SATA driver.
