I just got an ASUS monitor and would like to have it run with DVI instead of VGA.  So, I run the AMD autodetect program to find the latest driver for my card (ATI HD Radeon 4800 series, don't know the specific model). I believe the version is 12.6?  Anyway, while doing the setup, I get this error:

Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation, Verson=2.0.3776.37396, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest defininition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x08131040)

Is something not downloading correctly, or is there a different program I should use?

Running Windows 7 64-bit on a Intel Core Duo.

Go to the HOW TO & FAQs forum, I've posted up some solutions to this common problem a zillion times now and it features in that sub-forum .. handy things these free forum search engines, amazing what you can find if you use them ...

12.6 Legacy drivers can cause issues ( I had a few myself whilst testing them ), so if older drivers work and you're not having issues as described in the release notes, then you really don't have to update, you won't be missing out on any chocolate milk & cookies ..

I have also posted up in the Extended Support forum, a link to a modded version of the 12.6 drivers which work just fine ( assuming no o/s glitches, .NET errors etc already present on the system being updated ) ..

Oh, and all you really had to do, was to swap the cable over from VGA D-Sub to DVI, plug it into the DVI port and it'd have worked straight away with a DVI signal .. you don't need to update drivers just for swapping a cable over ..

I've searched for an hour, but haven't found a "create new thread" button, so I'll post here.

Title: HD3850 + 12.8 drivers = fail

Graphics Card: PowerColor Radeon HD3850 256mb, no over-clocking

OS: Win7 pro 32-bit, SP1

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz

Motherboard: Asus M2A-VM HDMI

RAM: 3 GB DDR2

I believe I had the version 10.1 of Catalyst installed (that’s the last installation file I found in my downloads folder). A few days ago it asked me to install the 12.8 version, so I did, and the installation went normally. When it was done installing, and I opened the “AMD Vision Control Center”, it said something along the lines with “Graphics card not detected”. I can’t see any of the graphics card settings etc. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling and installing the older drivers as well, but nothing worked.

I tried to follow these steps as well, without success: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=444&threadid=160906&enterthread=y

I’m glad if I can get either the new drivers or the old ones back working. Thank you in advance.

Here are the drivers for your card... http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeonaiw-vista32.aspx

Disable "check for updates" in the CCC.

Worked great. I love you, whoever you are. It's weird that ATI/AMD can't direct one to the correct drivers automatically.. Oh well.
