Hi guys,

I have a Sapphire HD3870 that is giving me headackes. 

When installed in a computer which doesn't have any form of ATI drivers installed, the card runs fine. However, when installing the latest available ATI drivers (I believe the 12.6 but don't know for sure), and reboot the computer, the screen gets all messed up; only the middle is visible (including the mouse cursus) but around that is a blur of colored blocks and pixels. Both the top and the bottom of the screen are black. I can see the cursus moving in the middle, but the rest of the screen is messed up.

Weirdly, this only happens with installing the drivers. When no drivers are present, the card runs fine which makes me believe that it has something to do with the software.

Any suggestions?

Stop trying to use the latest drivers and go back to 12.1 or 11.1 or some older set for that old card.

The machine the card needs to work in is running on Win7, no worries.

have tried the 11.1 drivers and gave me the same situation. driver-free works fine, once installed and rebooted the screen gets all messed up.

guess that makes it hardware-related..
