I am trying to decide between the Radeon HD 7950 and the GTX 670. I would really rather buy the 7950 because of its 384-bit interface, 3 GB of VRAM and much lower price, but I've had some issues using AMD GPUs on Nvidia Chipsets in the past. 

I'm wondering if anyone happens to have this particular Chipset and has used a 7950 with it (or similar card) sucessfully. 

Also, are there usually problems using Nvidia Chipsets/GPU's with ATI Chipsets/GPU's, or are these problems that occur outliers?

A single AMD graphics card you will be fine.  You just can't run CrossFire with it.

I just don't want to buy a 280$ GPU to find that it doesn't work with my computer >.<
