My friend owns a Radeon Sapphire HD 4800 Graphics Card. He downloaded a new version of the Catalyst Control Suite and suddenly was no longer able to control the fan settings of his video card. If he tries to play games or access graphics heavy websites, his video card begins to heat up at a very high rate while his fan speed remains idle.

We attempted to uninstall and reinstall Catalyst Control Suite but this did not help. She also tried to use RivaTuner 2.24 to access the video card directly, but even using RivaTuner 2.24, we were unable to make normal selections regarding the fan speed. We can choose the system default (which is currently idle speeds), or 112% Speed, which is loud and annoying.

How can we correct the problem?

We gave MSI Afterburner a shot. We kept getting an error when we tried to run it. "Unable to load display driver wrapper." Any thoughts?

Update: After some tinkering with things, we did manage to get MSI Afterburner to run. Thank you all for suggestion it! My friend has a functional computer again!
