i'm trying to understand the best way to use 2 monitors from my amd 7770 card.

the card

Cutting-edge integrated display support

  • DisplayPort 1.2
    • Max resolution: 4096x2160 per display
    • Multi-Stream Transport
    • 21.6 Gbps bandwidth
    • High bit-rate audio
    • Quad HD/4k video support
    • 1080p60 Stereoscopic 3D
  • HDMI® (With 4K, 3D, Deep Color and x.v.Color&trade
    • Max resolution: 4096x2160
    • 2560x1600p60 Stereoscopic 3D
    • Quad HD/4k video support
  • Dual-link DVI with HDCP
    • Max resolution: 2560x1600
  • VGA
    • Max resolution: 2048x1536

i think hdmi video is better than display port*?, amd 7770 has 2 display port* outputs and 1 hdmi output. Question is would it be better and easier for me to use the two display port* outputs to my two ultrasharp 2412M with one display port connection each. OR connect one with the hdmi and then the second one with a display port?

I need to update my own question: the ultrasharp 2412 does not have hdmi ports. so if I output hdmi from the 7770 card to this monitor I would need to convert it to either dvi or displayport. 1) what is the best way to connect 2 ultrasharp 2412 monitors to the 7770 card?

Is this what I can expect from the AMD website? really. not one answer. Not even from the AMD monitor? WOW. I might be a newbie, and a new customer but AMD will not be my next choice. You guys need to help your customers period. I thought I came to the freakin source for information. This ain't it.

By the way, I found my answer somewhere else. buh bye b

Looking at the data you collected, and the fact that you monitor doesn't have HDMI, and it's only running 1920x1200 res... any of the ports will be perfectly fine.  DVI, DP, either one would be fine at that res... Personally, I'd use the DP.

Display port rules. My center monitor (ultrasharp) uses the dp and it's great.

.n.b. you also posted in a forum that isn't frequented much so that's probably why no answers. Personally this is the first time I've looked in this section.

AMD Extended Support
General help area for AMD's extended support products. Radeon HD4000 Series, and older, AMD TV Wonder Series, and AMD All-in-Wonder Series.

You shouldn't expect help when you read that and decide to post in here anyway even though it doesn't apply to you. Either way, DisplayPort is the future, use it if you can.
