So... I would like to know. I have a Extensa 7620G acer laptop with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT. I would like to know if I can get audio trough the DVI output...

Actually, it seems that this model have some kind of dongle that allow it. But I was expecting to get it without it, trough software >-<

Possible... yes.  Probable... not so much.

It's true that HDMI is just DVI + audio... and the "+ audio" part happens in driver-land.  However, driver-land is a deep and mysterious place, and many things known by the people who live there rarely make it out into the open...
