I have a 7970M.  I just downloaded and installed the latest WQHL driver (13.4), but checking my Device Manager reveals that the driver date is still 3/18/2013 -- the date of 13.3 BETA 3 -- rather than 4/24/2013.

When I first installed 13.4 via Catalyst Install Manager, it gave me an option under component selection to install an AMD Display Driver (and I did), but when running the Install Manager agian to reinstall, the Display Driver no longer appears as an option.  Thinking that maybe it was because I was trying to install the same Display Driver version, I ran the installer for the 13.5 BETA 2, but a Display Driver does not appear on that list of components, either.  I don't have Catalyst Control Center installed and I don't get the option to install it from the Install Managers of either 13.4 or 13.5.  Everything else on the component list (AMD APP SDK, Accelerated Video, Audio Driver, etc. etc.) claims to be installed and up-to-date in both 13.4 and 13.5.

It seems like something may be wrong with the Install Manager detecting my hardware/software.  Is there another way to verify the version of the Display Driver to ensure that I have the latest driver installed?  And has another experienced something like this before?

The 13.3 beta3 and the 13.4 have the same drivers from what I can gather. I would try a clean install and do not select "automatically find and install"...just download and save the correct driver...the 13.5beta.

Thanks for your help so far, stumped.

I've got a new problem. I followed the instructions in the post you linked and used the AMD Clean Uninstall Utility.  The report issued after it finished gave a long list of AMD programs/drivers/etc. that were uninstalled.  Then I rebooted, but during the start up process I got a brief flash of a blue screen indicating a hardware malfuction.  I was then rebooted and pushed into Startup Repair, where I was forced to restore to before I uninstalled the AMD software.

I'm not sure where to go from here.  I'm using an Alienware M17x laptop with switchable graphics (7970M and Intel HD Graphics), so I may try switching to the discrete Intel chip before trying to use the uninstall utility again.  Any further advice you have would be much appreciated.

Yes...You threw me by not posting in the correct forum..and I tried to help without having the information in the "PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING". I should know better. Please go to the LAPTOP forum and read the sticky about 'updating mobility drivers". Plus there are many post similar to yours for you to peruse.
