I have an Alienware MX17R2 with two Radeon 4870. Yesterday I applied the Windows 8.1 update without checking for any restrictions and now it just turned out that my graphics cards are not supported anymore. Is there any chance to install a driver that works on Windows 8.1 with my configuration?

I am really frustrated as the notebook is not that old and the graphics cards are still good enough to play games like Assassin's Creed III or Diablo III so I won't buy a new system.

Any help is appreciated!

Finally, I can answer my own question. I found a quite useful post on the Internet: http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-Catalyst-Drivers-Fix-Radeon-HD-2000-3000-4000-series-app-issues-323228.shtml

Actually, it seems that Catalyst 13.1 Legacy works well for Windows 8.1. Installed the driver from there, only had to enable the display options as they were not shown in the CCC. However, you could also use the CCC from a different driver version or you can use the FLEM tool (http://digitalflem.mydiscussion.net/) to enable these options on your own. However, I wouldn't go for the second option unless you really know what you are doing.
