    Hi guys,

Since I upgraded to windows 8.1 (on windows 8 works fine) Catalyst does not recognize the HD 4550 graphics card, I contacted the service center and was told that there was no legacy version for this card and they did not know if they were going to develop it.

Please someone tell me if something has been done about it and if there is any date or otherwise has abandoned the idea and never will be a legacy version for this graphics card.

I'm waiting, but if many months, I would have to buy another card.

Regards,

Daniel

hi,

i kinda have the same question. I have a radeon HD 4500/5100 series in a del studio 1557 notebook. (most likely a HD 4570).

Catalyst control center says there is nothing to modify, while i am on the latest driver from january 2013. (13.1 version).

since i can not replace my card, are there any options? Windows 8.1 apps won't run properly, and several programs are having difficulties due to outdated driver

I don't know if Win8.1 drivers are even possible for legacy cards. It's not a matter of software, but hardware.

Those old cards just don't have the feaures requred by Win8.1.

I search an official reply from AMD. It is important to clarify this issue.

Please, is there someone who can speak for AMD?

Cheers,

Daniel

Lazy to read existing threads? Got your "official" answer right here: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=449&threadid=169466&enterthread=y

Solution: Upgrade to Windows 7 or Linux. "Apps" belong to phones.

As per what I stated in the thread Eydee linked (thank you, Eydee) I am not aware of any plans to provide a driver for legacy products on Windows 8.1

Thanks Marc, but is not enough, for this kind of topics is needed a direct response from AMD, changing "I am not aware of any plans to" for "AMD will not" for example.

The first word should always be AMD, if you can not do it, nothing happens, but you give the reasons, please.

Cheers,

Daniel

Stop looking for a different answer in a gaming forum. Your card is not fully supported in Win8..much less 8.1 Pick up your telephone and call AMD yourself. All this info is available.

Hi stumped,

you are completely wrong, the only information available from AMD today (27-11-2013) is that they have no idea whether they will develop the driver for windows 8.1, this is the reality, if I came to this forum is to have a definitive answer from AMD.

@Marc, please, check it deeply with the department involved.

Thanks,

Daniel

What is your malfunction? Do you not have $20 to buy a brand new HD 5450 which IS supported in Windows 8.1 and IS actually slightly more powerful than your HD 4550? You were told by Marc@AMD who actually has contact with the Catalyst Crew that there are no plans for those cards to be supported in Windows 8.1, especially since they were barely supported in Windows 8. Want to use new software, then you have to use supported hardware. Can we be any more clear?

At least don't boast about what stupid things you do. It's not cool not being able to read, not being able to understand the contents of the forum terms and conditions and for what it is exactly. You want to play a king and give orders, but you're just playing a fool. Now if you need community assistance with a certain issue, make a thread. Otherwise stick to reading, helping your fellow users, or just gtfo. I hope this is clear.

Lock, please.

Thanks guys for your help, but in this case the one who can do something is marc, as working for AMD, and is the only one who can speak on their behalf, but not any way, to have an official connotation should not use himself ("I believe, I am not aware of any plans, etc.").

Marc, i wait your response.

Cheers,

Daniel

You won't get a definitive answer.  Not until something is officially posted on the AMD.com website will anyone at AMD be able to provide a definite answer.

However, I'd strongly urge to you consider the age of your product against how current Windows 8.1 is to factor in any concerns of compatibility.  Now weight that against a reasonble expectation that any company's resources are not unlimited and decisions need to be made on what to support - if even it can be supported.  Now factor all that in, and go over the overwhelming message you're getting from the community and the  suggestion I provided earlier.. and I think we're not too far off from the 'definitive' answer you're after without it being a definitive answer ...

;Marc
