I have just upgraded a 6 year old computer from Windows XP to Windows 7. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1950.

I searched, found and installed the drivers in the file "10-2_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc.exe". However, when I look at the Device Manager, I see an item called "NTativiv01" with a driver error (Code 28). I've searched both the Internet and the entire computer and can find no driver.

I searched the net and some posts say that this is a video capture component of the X1950. However, I can't find anything that leads me to a driver to correct the Code 28 error.

The video seems to be working pretty well, but ocassionally I get a strange small coloured bar in the Google browser.

Can anyone point me to a solution?

Sounds like a non-standard card, especially that it has a video capture interface. An all-in-wonder maybe?

I suggest you find out what it is exactly and try OEM drivers. Some special cards only work with those.

Thanks for your reply Eydee,

This computer is a custom built system. Unless, I was sold a knock-off, I know that the card is an ATI branded Radeon X1950. When I got the system, I had the retail boxes in which each component was packed (including this ATI card).

Before I upgraded to Win 7, I ran the Win 7 Compatibility Advisor. It said that there were updated drivers available from the manufacturer. I downloaded and installed the  "10-2_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc.exe" drivers from AMD and the graphics appear to be working.

If that motherboard is PCI Express based then I would suggest spending $10 on a HD 5450.

Thanks black_zion,

Can you suggest where I could get this card for $10? The best I see is $40 with a $20 mail in rebate.

Alright $20, they've bumped up the price.
