My Acer Aspire 2000 (CL32) laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 video card, running WinXP/Pro/SP3, often says that the ATI driver is not working or missing. However, if I uninstall the ATI driver through Device Manager, after a reboot, I can set it to the native resolution of 1280 x 800,  and it will stay at that resolution until next reboot when it reverts to 640 x 480. On the rare occasions that the ATI Control Panel is accessible, in its Display tab, I can set the scheme to Default Single Display, but the SAVE button is greyed out, so that setting is NOT maintained. How to make the display resolution native and invariable ?

Sounds like that XP hasn't been reinstalled in 10 years... That's a miracle as most XP installs die in 3 months.
