Hello,

I need some help.

My old laptop had broked but i was able to use the HDD from him and my Windows XP 64bit OS. I put the HDD on an old DELL Inspiron 1501 and i install all drivers except the video card.
Dell doesnt provide video card drivers for Windows XP x64 OS, only for x86.

I looked on the internet and i found the ATI driver 10-2_legacy_xp32-64_dd_ccc.exe who is supposed to detect my ATI x1150 video card on Dell laptop, but it doesnt.

The install of the video card driver begins, I press Next and after this i got the error "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit."

The Ati driver suports both x86 and x64 and the INF file (from ATI install directory) contain my video card:

"ATI Radeon Xpress 1150" = ati2mtag_RS482, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5974
"ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 Secondary" = ati2mtag_RS482, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5874

I dont know what is the problem, so please help me.

My laptop config is:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-55 1.80GHz
RAM: 1 GBHDD: Samsung 320 GB
Video card: ATI Radeon X1150
OS: Windows XP Pro x64 SP2
Bios: 2.6.3 (the latest and the only one)

Install XP x86, there's no reason to use XP x64 on a machine like that, not to mention that it's not even legal (XP x64 being VL-only).

Donate that computer to a museum and buy a new system, Windows XP is dead in 3 months.

Hi, jamesbrown. Sorry my English, it's not my native language.

I had experienced the same problem just today. It seems to be driver installation ordering or so. Even OEM driver in laptop's DVD-ROM shows "Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system. Setup will now exit" when I try to launch installation.

Then I compared INF-file and, strictly speaking, information of Xpress 1150 in Device Manager which can be found in My Computer's properties.

As you can see, JUST one digit in INF-file don't coincides. So I fixed INF-file, after that Dispay Driver has been installed successfully.
