Graphics Card
XFX Radeon HD 4650, AGP 8X, 1GB DDR2 Memory.

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History
13-9-legacy_Vista_Win. 7_32_dd_ccc_whql.exe file.

Operating System
Windows 7 Professional SP1.

Issue Details
Graphics card (Catalyst Ver. 12.6) worked fine with Win. XP Pro. but once I upgraded to Win. 7 Pro. SP1 I can not install the legacy driver or use the original graphics card install cd. Original install cd is only for XP, 2000, and Vista. I did install the Win. 7 Upgrade Advisor Report and the graphics card was found to be compatible. I can not get support from XFX because when I try to submit a support ticket I keep getting an error "page not found" so I have no way of getting any support from them on this issue.

I went to the AMD web site and tried the auto-detect and download method than the manual method and both produce the same result, nothing is installed. The file extracts ok but when it comes to installing it only installs the "installer" and "A...something else (couldn't catch the rest) Runtime" than instantly the "Finish" dialog box appears. Nothing is installed.

Is the 13-9-legacy file all I need to use my graphics card? Is there something in Win. 7 Pro. SP1 I need to change?

Eydee,

Thanks for answering. Since AMD does not have a previous Win. 7 Catalyst driver for my graphics card it sounds like I'll need add my card to the driver inf file. If you have the time can you please explain to how to do this for my graphics card. I have no idea what to do. Also what is the purpose of the inf file?

Thanks,

Keith

Doing a google search on "adding card to driver inf file" give you tons of tutorials how to do it. Probably it was also explained here before. So feel free to search, writing down here would take too much time and space probably.
