Hi everybody, I have right now two 465GTX in my computer (MSI 46GTX Twin Frozr II + EVGA 465GTX Overcloacked) and I would like to know if a HD7970 would be better then those two combined with my computer build for fun.My specs :Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3AMD FX-8120 3.1Ghz 8 core2x nVidia 465GTXModular CoolerMaster 1000WattCorsair 8GBCrutial SSD 128GB

Well the GTX 460 overclocked is for all intents and purposes the same power as a 5850, and a HD 7970 is more powerful than 2 5850s in Crossfire, so the 7970 will be an upgrade.

Hmm.. since Crossfire 5850's and 7970 got involved... B_Z, how much of a performance difference will it be if someone is to upgrade from 5850 CF to a sinlge 7970? Do you know?

I was thinking of finally retiring my two 5850's, but I'm not sure if the performance increase and more VRAM (which I need atm) is justified by the ~$400 price tag. That's what's holding me back right now...

Well with the HD 8000 series due out before to much longer and with it a noticeable performance boost, I'd recommend you stick with the dual 5850s until they are released. If nothing else, it'll kill the 7970's prices.

Ahh...another year is about to go by and technology moves on....

Odd that we haven't seen a HD 7990 (or dual GPU card) yet from AMD
