Nothing about this screams FAKE to me though. GCN, being gen 1 with the HD 7000 series, naturally has loads of room for improvement. Also with 28nm process, also new with the HD 7000 series, has loads of room for improvement. On paper numbers seem about right, since we know that real world performance is not perfect like the on paper world. AMD themselves said to expect a 25% improvement in the HD 8000 series over the HD 7000 series, and given those on paper numbers 25% seems to be very feasible. It's getting about that time of year when AMD should be getting out the second or third prototypes preparing for full production in late October so the OEMs can get their cards out around Chirstmas or the first of the year.
Looks like a very solid midrange card, with the obligatory price decreases enabled by the improvements in the 28nm process allowing for less waste. Time will tell though if the HD 8900 series is improved by as much, and how much of a rival it will be to the VLIW5/4 cards of the HD 5000 and HD 6000 series.
Will probably purchase the HD8870 when it comes out, those midrange cards can pretty much max out games nowdays (atleast on 1080p), more powerful ones are only good to save some € on centralized heating costs since they can heat up a room to 25C in a few hours. If there would be any games to utilize them... damn consoles.

Just moving this thread over to the Tech. Lounge. I would like to try and keep this category available for information about, or issues with current AMD graphics products.
The HD8000 series won't be 'current' until they are officially launched.

For starter the HD7990 hasn't come out yet, so I really dout it.
Usualy it take at least a year before a new product comes out. And in my own opinion those over 50%/20% numbers can't be real.
I mean okay AMD is paying more attention to GPUs and APUs but to get that much difference from a previus series is unreal. The two main reasons would be:
>A) Money, you can't just show your cards to your competitor(s) >B) That's a bit unrealistic, if you go over 50% that means that the next generation should be over 100%.
I mean there are limitations, they could make such a powerful card but it would cost too much.
The truth though is that I would like to get in my hands a card like that.

Remember though this is gen 2 GCN and gen 2 28nm, so AMD has -a lot- of room for improvements. Like I said it is most likely fake, but it really doesn't seem to far fetched, except the prices which I doubt will decrease (instead carrying mail in rebates)
