Apparently Adobe is discontinuing their CS2 products (wonder why, they're old and people don't buy them anymore) and they are giving them away for free On their site for download complete with serials. Not a bad deal.

The downloads still work, and if the activation servers are down then the "special serial numbers" given by Adobe still work, then it boils down to an "honor code". You're not supposed to keep recorded material over 24 hours, you're not supposed to download and use ROM's if you don't have the physical game, and you're not supposed to re-sell CDs, DVDs, and other media after you buy them, but people do them all. If Adobe didn't want to give them away for free then they would have yanked the downloads.
What it sounds like to me more is that some Adobe shareholders were angry and they had to say something.

It's still a strange decision... but for anything beyond tinkering at home, trying to squeak by with a bootleg copy of CS2 is just going to cause you headaches anyway considering that everyone else has a more recent version.
