Hi, I have an AMD Radeon HD 6670 Graphics card and everything works fine except I can't run anything that requires DirectX9 3D 32 bit mode.

When I run dxDiag, all three displays say Direct3D Acceleration not available, however when I click the Run 64 bit DxDiag, all acceleration is enabled.

All other graphics functions seem to function normally.

I was directed here from a helpful person in the Microsoft forum:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/directx3d-32-bit-doesnt-work-on-64-bit-machine/8ca8d02a-eec5-4ed7-be74-828c6fc2f5db

Graphics Card

AMD Catalyst Driver Version, and Driver History
Unloaded and loaded --- didn't fix problem

Operating System

Motherboard or System Make & Model
Not sure, running an ASUS Bios 10/20/10 Ver: 08..00.10

Power Supply

?? No problems that I can tell

Display Device(s) and Connection(s) Used
I have a AocF22 currently using a Generic PnP Monitor driver and a DELL 21 inch montor currently using Generic Non PnP Monitor Diver

Applications and Games

Not a gamer, tried to load unity to help son program something, but it fails to initialize 3d graphics (using DirectX9 3D)

CPU Details
AMD Phenom II X4 980 Processor (4 CPU's) ~3.7GHZ

Motherboard BIOS Version
ASUS BIOS Ver: 08.00.10

System Memory Type & Amount
8192MB Ram ???

Additional Hardware
??? Son built it, has several fans???

Additional Details

I've searched around, ensured drivers were up to date, and treaked some settings that were reported to help problem, no success so far...

Any Ideas about what the problem actually is, and if there is a fix or a graphics card that wouldn't cause this problem?

Thanks, Sue

im not sure, i must be confused.  i think i would install proper drivers, DX and GPU or possibly scan for virus dealing with .dlls?  sorry but i dont get the post...

however, if you have win 7 with 6.... something and cant run a DX9 32 bit application you must have a problem..

DX9 games can benefit from having 'enable surface format optimizations' enabled....in the CCC.
