As mentioned before, Microsoft has pissed off it's OEM buyers by going into competition with them in the tablet market. Now it looks like HP will be the first to retaliate > http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57569642-94/with-microsoft-as-tablet-rival-will-hp-go-android/?part=rss&subj=news&tag=title

I wouldn't put to much stock into what HP says, they're in massive panic mode because they let themselves get run into the ground, same as Dell. IIRC there was a report last year about how HP was looking to sell off its PC business altogether and focus on the enterprise server market. I think that OEMs are still more pissed at Microsoft at the $100 license fee for Windows 8 vs free for Android. If anything the Surface sets a standard for what a Windows RT (or FE, Fake Edition, since it's not really Windows) and Windows 8 tablets should exceed, since OEMs like HP seem to have no problem putting an insanely slow CPU, GPU, and RAM amount in a PC, hiking the price up by double what it should be, selling it to customers, then telling them to complain to Microsoft about why their PC is running so slow (I am referring of course to Vista which HP and the other OEMs put onto 2ghz single core 512MB RAM systems).

No, they won't go android. the corporate sales market is to large, even for MS/Dell to fullfill, HP knows that.

Personally, Google is pissing me off, I'm stepping as far away from them as I can get.

I still say it's a huge mistake, but we'll see.

Considering that they just sold WebOS to LG this probably didn't have anything to do with Surface.  These aren't the kind of deals made on a knee-jerk reaction, anyway.

Yeah so microsoft wants to own dog+world again... since when is that news...
